
Dr Benjamin Thompson, MBBS (Hons), MPhil (Med), FACD
Dr Benjamin Thompson is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology.
Ben studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, graduating with honours in 2008. His early post graduate medical training was at John Hunter Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He also volunteered at the Regional Dermatology Training Centre in Tanzania. Ben subsequently undertook a postgraduate research masters degree in skin cancer prevention at the University of Sydney in 2015.
Ben has published in international journals, co-authored a textbook chapter on skin cancer prevention and presented at both local and international conferences.
Ben completed his four year specialty training in dermatology at St. Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst, The Skin Hospital Darlinghurst, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. This also included being selected for a one year secondment to the Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust in the UK. In his final year Australasian College of Dermatological exams, Ben was recognised for his excellence with an American Academy of Dermatology prize.
Ben has an interest in all fields of dermatology including the early diagnosis and treatment of skin malignancy, paediatrics and advanced medical treatments for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Ben maintains a keen interest in health and lifestyle including surfing, running and cycling.
